Role Overview

The Supervisor / Crew Leader is responsible for leading site-based delivery of projects, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, on schedule, and within budget. This role is critical to Astrea Civil’s success, providing on-the-ground leadership, managing site crews and subcontractors, and driving a positive safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day on-site delivery of projects, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Lead and implement Astrea Civil’s safety systems, SWMS, ITPs, and environmental controls.
  • Coordinate and manage site crews, subcontractors, plant, and equipment.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets; proactively manage risks, delays, and variations.
  • Ensure accurate as-built data and quality documentation are completed on time.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and incident reporting in line with WHS requirements.
  • Support development of junior team members and drive Astrea Civil’s high-performance culture.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in civil construction supervision, ideally in utilities or infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate and deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to motivate and manage site crews effectively.
  • Sound understanding of construction methodologies, temporary works, and WHS obligations.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and plant hire agreements.
  • Proficiency with ITPs, SWMS, and QA processes; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
